woodstock driving directions

by t on March 22, 2005

To approach VT from the South and East (i.e. NYC, Fairfield) take the Merritt Parkway all the way to I-91 in Middletown, CT. Then take I-91 due North (for 2.5 hours) to intersection with I-89 in White River Junction, VT. There, Hop on I-89 North and take your first exit, Exit 1 “Route 4 Woodstock”. Left at the end of the ramp, drive 12 miles into Woodstock. Stay on Route 4 thru town and go around “The Green” rotary. At the end of the rotary, make a jog across Route 4 East and immediate right onto a 50 yard runway to head up a hill straight in front of you. (By the way, the town hall is on your right as you start this). You are on both Prospect street and Church Hill. House is 11th house on the right – the first house situated far from the road. Cedar house with blue trim.

To approach VT from the West (i.e. very northern NJ, upstate NY), head up the I-87 Northway to Exit 20 (20 minutes North of Saratoga, also about 50 minutes North of Albany). Take Route 149 East to Route 4 East. Follow twists and turns thru Fort Ann and Whitehall and Route 4 becomes a highway. Follow that into Rutland, VT. Then follow Route 4 thru Rutland, over Killington into Woodstock for roughly 45 miles (note that on coming close to Woodstock, you’ll pass Pond Ridge, Jackson House and the High School en route). After the speed limit slows, you pass the Little Theatre (on right) and go over bridge, after 300 yards, take a sharp right going around the Episcopal Church and an immediate right again up Church Hill/Prospect Street. Belisle household is 11th house on the right – the first house situated far from the road. Cedar house with blue trim.

To approach VT from the East (Boston): Take I-93 North to Concord NH and take the exit for I-89 North (1+ hour). Take I-89 North all the way over the VT border and take your second exit (after passing I-91 interchange), and take Exit 1 “Route 4 Woodstock”.
