syl 4 | use your debit card for everything

by t on July 5, 2005

Try to get as many bills direct-debited to your credit cards as you can, and then get your credit cards bills direct-debited to your bank account (for the FULL balance each month, so you never borrow money from your credit cards.) What about bills that can’t be direct-debited to a credit card? Get them direct-debited to your bank account directly.

End result: You’ll eliminate the time and stress of paying bills, you will ensure that you never get hit with late fees, and you’ll be giving yourself the maximum grace period – so you can earn interest – on every payment. The added benefits include maximizing the amount of rewards/points you could gain, and direct-debiting to credit cards actually lowers the risk of being billed in error, according to the radical guide to credit cards.
