syl 3 | get rid of your TV

by t on May 30, 2005

Talk about a mind-suck. Perhaps you watch over a dozen hours of TV a week. What do you remember from it? Not much. Was anything on it so groundbreaking that you thought, “Thank God I have a TV”? Doubt it. Unless your ego lives-and-dies by being able to talk intelligently about the latest “American Idol” or “O.C.” episode, move on. Guess what? Most of the programs you seek are available on DVD.

End result: TV is the fog in your brain. By having a target selection of movies and TV programs to watch on DVD, you make specific time to be entertained – instead of just zoning-out. You’ll also save some money. Sound Money Tips say “…you’ll improve the quality of what you watch and cut the time you spend watching junk. Plus, there’s a price-war in the online movie rental business, so the services are now far cheaper than cable TV.” You might end up reading more books… or having conversations with those you live with and love. Goodness, not that.
