real estate research

by t on April 12, 2006

My friend Tom has passed these links to research NYC-specific properties:

ACRIS – Automated City Registry Information System
City tax records for real property – part of the city dept of finance (might be able to find out who owns your building and how much they are
in hock). You need to first find the Borough, Block & Lot numbers to search the tax records for ownership, mortgages, etc of a particular property. Takes some poking around and trial and error, but there’s a lot of info to be had once you get the hang of it. The interface is pretty lame also but the info is there.

NYC Dept of Finance – Property Page

NYC Dept of Buildings – Building Information System (BIS) automated building info system re permits filed, building and environmental code violations, etc. This is another way to find the B, B, & L for a particular address (cuz you can search by address).
