cures for the common foot

by t on September 10, 2005

Here are two resources for your feet, both of which include great service and the best prices, anywhere.

To any human, your feet affect the health your legs, your back and even your head. Do your feet hurt? I am a runner. I’ve run my whole life. I run often just to clear my head. Things were looking good and feeling fine. Then last year, my left knee started to become quite sore after even a short run. Soon after, the soles of my feet started to blister and my back was sore. I saw my family doctor, who said to see an orthopedist, who then said to see a physical therapist. The latter two gave me some new stretching techniques and suggested getting orthotics.

Orthotics? Aren’t those for old people? Well, I was in pain – so I’d look into anything. Custom orthotics from my doctor, $400. Custom orthotics from a local retailer, $450. Yikes. But then my chiroprator suggested looking at a website retailer called Doctors Foot Labs. Their work was guaranteed, and they sold orthotics for about $175 – so I thought I’d give it a try.

Well I’ve had excellent success with them. I ordered two pair: a pair for running and another for my work shoes. A few days after I ordered them, Dr. Stone called to consult with me regarding the purchase and the condition of my feet. He sent a custom foot bed to create a mold and I sent it back, postage-free. I received the orthotics three weeks after my initial order. My feet had a predictable two-week transition period… and now I feel a world better. I’m running again and my feet, legs, knees and back feel good. So good, in fact, that I’m now a few months out from running the New York City Marathon. I also recently received another check-up call recently from Dr. Stone. Nothin’ like a lifetime-guaranteed product.

To any fashion-savvy urbanite, shoes make the outfit. For most consumer products, the web hosts retailers that sell the products you love for the prices you can afford. For shoes, there is no better place than Zappos. I have found pleasure in visiting a local retail store, finding the shoes that I like, and then buying them here for much less. Zappos offers free (and fast) shipping, free return-shipping and a 110% price guarantee. Plus its fun to get new shoes at work.

“Though I am grateful for the blessings of wealth, it hasn’t changed who I am. My feet are still on the ground. I’m just wearing better shoes.” ~ Oprah Winfrey
